Can British nationals install solar panels in the Balearics after Brexit?
Yes. Post-Brexit, British citizens are non-EU residents in Spain, but they have the same rights as any other non-resident to install solar panels on their Spanish property. You'll need an NIE (Foreign Identification Number) and a Spanish bank account to receive the subsidy. We handle the entire process and you can sign digitally from the UK.
How much does a solar installation cost in the Balearic Islands?
Our standard packages: 3 kW from €5,500, 5 kW from €7,200 and 10 kW from €12,400. With the IRPF tax deduction (20-60%) and municipal IBI rebate, the net cost can drop by 45-60%. When the new IDAE Balearics call opens, total savings reach 65-70%. A 5 kW system with all subsidies typically costs around €2,200 net after all rebates.
Do I need to be in Spain during the installation?
No. The entire process can be handled remotely. You sign documents digitally from the UK, we coordinate the installation date with your property manager or housekeeper, and we send photos and reports at every step. Many of our British clients are only in Mallorca a few weeks per year.
What subsidies are available for solar installations in the Balearics?
Three subsidies are active right now: IRPF income tax deduction (20-60%), municipal IBI rebate (25-50%) and ICIO construction tax rebate (50-95%). The IDAE Balearics direct grant is paused: the 2024-2026 programme closed on 30 April 2026; a new call with expanded budget is expected. It's available to both residents and non-residents. Payment typically arrives 3-6 months after submission, paid into your Spanish bank account. Our success rate for properly submitted applications is over 95%.
